Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) can often present similarly to Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This is because in many ways they tend to mimic one another. Both ADHD and APD can cause children to struggle to listen and follow instructions and children with these diffculties will often appear bored and get tired easily. They are, however, two very different disorders and are treated in very different ways.
If you are concerned about your child, we have prepared a brief quiz to give you an initial indication as to whether it might be advisable to make an appointment with an Audiologist to assess whether your child has an Auditory Processing Disorder or a Psychologist to assess whether their difficulties are more likely the result of an attention disorder.
This quiz is not meant to be used for diagnostic purposes and we would urge you to speak to your child’s education or health professional as the first point of call if you are concerned. If you have an enquiry and would like to email us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
